Today we visited a little-known lava tube that's about halfway up Waipoli Road. This road connects Kula to Polipoli State Park. The tube is only moderately challenging to walk through. We enter it at the higher side, so we're walking downhill. There are two pretty steep sections, but we can walk it in biped mode. The lava floor is pretty slippery when wet, as it was today. We managed to take 27-pound Tree and an equal weight of camera equipment, without falling down once.

This is the exit side (downhill side) of the lava tube. I'm negotiating with Tree to give me back the light so that I can put it away. He doesn't want to give it back.

Out of the lava tube

Once safely out of the lava tube, Alan helped Tree to take some pictures of mom using Alan's camera.

Polipoli State Park

The park is at the top of Waipoli Road, so we went on up for a brief walk. We stayed just long enough to catch these photos and then we got driven out by rain.
