All Around Maui: "Go Kiss house. Dive caca," he said. May 1, 2002

"Caca" means tractor in Tree-speak. One of Tree's favorite things to do, especially when he has to come to my house, is to drive (pretend to drive) Dave's tractor.

Tree points to the tractor over in the field. The green building in the background is the Okumura house. I rent from them, and live in a building to the left of their house (the space between the two buildings is the driveway).

Tree gets reacquainted with his beloved tractor. The field that currently parks this working tractor is also a graveyard to a bunch of very dead cars. Note the banana trees behind the cars, and the ocean in the far background.

Tree and Monique admire the steering wheel and the tachometer on the dash.

Tree operates the controls for the grass trimming attachment that is mounted at the right side of the tractor.

We walked up the hill to where there is an old bulldozer that Tree likes to drive. As I was taking this photo, Tree was telling me, "Kiss, no do dat." On this day, at least, he was happy to have me take pictures of him but only when he was doing something interesting (driving the tractor). When we were just walking somewhere, I got "no do dat" when I pointed the camera at him.

Surrounding the bulldozer was a group of cows.

We found the cows interesting but a little bit scary. Tree is quite comfortable with animals larger than he is.

But there is a limit to how close he wants to get to 2000 pounds of raw hamburger. Here cow #30 enters Tree's fear circle.

Walking back home, Tree really hopes it isn't nap time (it is).
